Google Mobile Sync - Sync Your Google Calendar



Google has finally came out with an official Google Calendar Sync software for the Blackberry. I was so excited to get this and see it work so efficiently, I must have emailed all of my friends with a Blackberry.

It feels great to make entries with your Blackberry's native or built it calendar and have it sync with your Google Calendar. I can view my Google Calendar entries even when I don't have any Internet connection, which happens to me all the time when I travel outside the country.

Google has done a great service to all Google Calendar users who have a Blackberry, I'm sure this is going to make their Calendar service even more popular.

GCAL SYNC



There a new synchronization software that would allow you to sync your blackberry phone with your Gmail Account addresses. The software is a small download and comes with instructions on how to make the connection.

Carry your Google Calendar in your pocket! GCalSync is an open source application that lets you do a two-way synchronization between Google Calendar and your phone's built-in calendar. Download events to your phone, or add an event on your phone and upload it to Google Calendar.

Features
  • Download events from Google Calendar to your phone's calendar
  • Upload events created on the phone
  • If an event has been changed in Google Calendar since last sync it will be updated on the phone
  • Specify time period you want to sync as number of past days (default: 1) and number of future days (default 30)

ActionPad for the Blackberry

Im always a compulsive note taker which makes my Blackberry's built in memo pad one of my most use software. Altough my phones built in memo pad is adequate, its always nice to have something different. ActionPad presents itself as an interesting add on that works in harmony with your Blackberry's Memopad software. In fact ActionPad requires Blackberry Memopad to be installed inorder for it to work.

ActionPad has some great features I wish was present in Memopad, like individual memo encryption and easy category changes. ActionPad has some unique features which it calls as behaviors; auto date stamp on the title, auto title numbering and much more. There's also some integration with your phone's calendar and address book.

Evernote which I consider as the best cross-platform notebook application in the world has finally arrived on the Blackberry. Through the years the developers of Evernote have rolled out some great changes in Evernote , making it more just about making notes. At this moment you an create web clips, audio notes, capture images and even twitter messages ( have to figure that out ). Since Evernote strives to be a cross-platform application you can sync all of your information from your PC, Mac, Iphone and now your Blackberry. I just love the fact your not limited to one machine making it easy to get access to your data where ever you may be.

Listening to an interview with an Evernote executive saying they are working hard to make their application your second brain which make me even more excited that its now available for the Blackberry.

ISkoot - Skype VOIP and Chat Software



ISkoot is freeware that enables you to use Skype on your mobile phones and now the Blackberry. The software is still in BETA. ISkoot has an agreement with Skype to use their network. Now you can use your Skype account to make calls and send instant messages.
ISkoot uses your voice plan to connect to their server when you make and receive Skype calls so be careful if your not in North America , you might get long distance charges. Although Iskoot is still working on trying to improve their software the chat function works great and helps me get in touch with everyone in my office.

I'm hoping Iskoot will release a new version that uses BIS, BES or TCP to make calls instead of dialing a US number which will make you incur local charges. Just remember that although Iskoot is free using it will still cost you.

Until they make some changes Iskoot still has a great Instant messaging function which makes it worth using.

Google Latitude is a Geo Broadcasting software or a location aware app which tells your friends your current location. Inside the app you can send invitations to your friends to join Latitude using their Google account.
Latitude is integrated in the new Google Maps which makes it very powerful or accurate. Keeping up with people's preference Latitude has several privacy setting which allows you to choose if you want to tell your friends where you are or to keep your location private. I love the fact you can even set different levels of location sharing among your friends(best available location, city level or hide).
